According to The Register, Jon Romero, of Id Software fame, has stated that Nokia is working on a follow-up to the N-Gage that will attempt to address some of the design shortcomings of the original.

Romero is currently working on mobile games for his own company Monkeystone Games. This probably affords him the opportunity to take a peek at the next-generation game deck. "
