Business Rumor Mill: Electronic Arts To Make Offer For Jamdat, UbiSoft, or THQ?
"It's a slow summer and the game industry has a long ways to go until game sales start picking up again. So naturally it's the time for takeover rumors. The rumor mill says Electronic Arts is serious about making up for a shortfall in its short-term outlook with an acquisition. The top candidates include Jamdat, a mobile games company in Los Angeles; UbiSoft, the French video game company that makes Tom Clancy Games (and which EA owns 19 percent of already); and even THQ, the Calabasas, Calif., maker of console, PC and wireless games from Scooby-Doo to 'Warhammer 40000: Dawn of War.'"
