Openwave And Sun Microsystems Collaborate to Accelerate Mobile Content Development
BARCELONA, SPAIN, 3GSM World Congress – February 13, 2006 – Openwave Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: OPWV) and Sun Microsystems, Inc. (NASDAQ: SUNW), both leading providers of open software products and services for the communications industry, today announced an agreement to accelerate next-generation application development for mobile phones. The agreement will help operators and developers to rapidly create, customize, and deploy powerful new applications and interfaces for mass market mobile phones by integrating Sun’s Java (TM) Platform, Micro Edition (Java ME) technologies with Openwave® Mobile Integrated Dynamic Application System (MIDAS), a next-generation XML-based scripted application environment.
