Spotlight: Hovr Brings Ad-Supported Games with Social Networking to Customers
Vipul Sawhney, Founder and CEO of Hovr, an ad-supported mobile games company, noticed a statistical disparity signaling an opportunity. “Roughly a third of mobile subscribers say, ‘Yes, I’ve played some sort of game on my mobile phone,’” he said. “But only about 2-3% of a carrier’s subscriber base actually goes and purchases a game.” Sawhney believes it is the outdated model – not consumer interest – that has caused the mobile games market, currently bringing in just over $1 billion worldwide, to plateau.
