Glu Mobile, a leading creator and global publisher of mobile entertainment, today revealed the results of a new survey into consumers' preferences for downloading and using mobile entertainment content. The survey found that the youth market is the fastest growing sector of the mobile entertainment industry, with 29% of 16-24 year olds using their phone as a gaming device.
GAPP: Online Games Industry Grows 52% In 2005
China's General Administration of Press and Publications announced on Wednesday that China's online gaming industry generated 3.77 billion Yuan in revenues 2005, up 52.6 percent from 2004, reports The Beijing News. The report estimates that China's online gaming revenue will top 17.2 billion Yuan in 2010. A GAPP official said that future development in China's online gaming market will be driven by online casual games and mobile games. GAPP said that in 2005 China's online gaming industry contributed 30 billion Yuan to related industries. The report said that casual game sales accounted for 30 percent of total online gaming revenues and that there are now more than 18 online mobile games in China. The report said that China's mobile gaming market will increase rapidly after 3G is launched.

Due to slowing growth and falling prices, worldwide mobile-phone market revenue is expected to decline in 2006, and will not recover to the peak level of 2005 until 2009, iSuppli Corp. predicts. Worldwide factory revenue from production of mobile phones will decline to US$109.7 billion in 2006, down 4.7% from US$115.1 billion in 2005, which represented the historic high for the market. Revenue growth will resume in the subsequent years, but only by single-digit percentages. By 2009, revenue will recover back to its 2005 level of US$115.1 billion.
